City of Orange Fire Department Taps Cutting-Edge Routing Technologies
GeoSpatial Technologies, Inc. provides timesaving systems

Orange, CA (August, 2004) - The City of Orange Fire Department aims to reduce response times with a powerful and user-friendly mapping and routing system.

Orange FD is using GST Mapper, which will allow the firefighters in the responding truck to see in real time a detailed map between the truck and the incident. Orange FD will also use GST Mapper in its Dispatch Center.

"When it comes to calls for service, the response time is most critical," says John Lim, CEO of GeoSpatial Technologies, which developed the software. "With the GST Mapper, the Orange Fire Department is even better equipped to respond to such calls in the most efficient way."

Two key features in the GST Mapper are:

Dynamic Navigation: This provides real-time mapping of the route between a responding vehicle and an incident. As the vehicle approaches the incident location, GST Mapper zooms in on the area and provides more detailed information.

The vehicles with GST Mapper installed in the Mobile Data Computers will be able to receive incident reports wirelessly. Maps will be generated instantaneously on the computer screen. No longer will the firefighters have to flip through cumbersome and archaic paper maps.

View all Vehicles: With the GST Mapper, Fire Battalion Chiefs can monitor on a MDC not only the incident location, but also the responding vehicle's location and the locations of every vehicle in their battalion.

GST Mapper is being used by many public safety agencies including the Orange County Sheriff's Department, which has the software for its patrol deputies and for its Emergency Operations Center. Field deputies are able to find locations, generate shortest routes and search for incidents or vehicles. With the additional Image-viewing Module, the law enforcement personnel has the capability to view building floor plans before entering a structure and display aerial photography of a neighborhood for strategic deployment.
