Successful Migration of GST Tracker® from the previous CDPD network to the latest EDGE/GPRS at Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD)
Los Angeles, CA (May, 2005) -
GST implemented its GPS vehicle tracking system at LASD's Transportation Bureau in 2002 for all their transportation buses using then AT&T's CDPD network. In March 2005, LASD contracted GST to migrate the tracking system to the much-improved wireless communication network EDGE/GPRS of AT&T Wireless. The project was successfully completed with an intensive training of LASD's personnel on the state-of-the-art tracking system. The system uses GST's latest tracking technology with seamlessly integrated monitors to display vehicle status, state-wide map, county-wide map, and local streets. The system shows the street information of each vehicle and indicates whenever a vehicle approaches any known facility of the Sheriff's Department.
