U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved GST's patent application on the latest GPS-AVL technology with 27 claims

Santa Ana, CA (June, 2006) —

This patent involves a smart location-information processor designed for automatically detecting the current location of any moving object in real time, based on signals received from either GPS satellites or terrestrial communication networks with location-detection information. The device further processes relevant location information and activates appropriate responsive functions according to the object's current location. The device will then transmit messages through a wireless communication network to one or more designated receiving units. At any time, the device may receive messages through the wireless communication network from other stationary or mobile objects. All the events of the installed moving object are stored in a history file which can be sent to a remote server and then cleared from the installed object, either on a regular basis or on demand instantaneously. The device in one object may automatically activate certain functions controlling the object in response to the location of another object installed with the same device. There are overall 27 specific claims involved in this patent.

"The approval of this patent not only provides protection for GST's on-going development of cutting-edge mobile-location technologies and prevents possible infringements, but further demonstrates the tremendous strength of GST's R&D capabilities", says Dr. Hong Chou, CTO of GeoSpatial Technologies, Inc. "With the current humongous investments and fast-growing establishments in wireless communication infrastructure among major carriers, the potential application of this patent is enormous and will soon be incorporated into numerous applications for a wide variety of location-based services."
