GST SmartID® System Installed on Palm Beach School Buses

Santa Ana, CA (August, 2006) — The School District of Palm Beach, Florida, has started implementation of GST SmartID®, the latest technology of student identification system, on their buses for its state-of-the art High-Tech Don Estridge School. All the buses already are equipped with GST Tracker GPS devices. A complete GST SmartID® system consists of GPS and CDMA modem for communication, a versatile mobile data terminal (MDT), and either a swipe card reader and/or a keypad for student identification.

With GST SmartID®, school administrators and even parents will know which student is on which bus at any time; the bus driver will know immediately if a student is boarding the wrong bus; and transportation operators will be able to generate accurate reports of rider statistics automatically and eliminate the need for drivers to fill out lengthy reports.

For example, the School Police Department is currently installing GST's Tracking System on its patrol units; after that, in case of an emergency, both the School dispatch center and Police Department will have the ability to spot the locations of the buses and police vhicles thus having One Common Operating Picture."
