GST awarded US patent for its advanced dynamic notification technology for implementation with GPS-enabled phones and AVL

Santa Ana, CA (April, 2007) — GeoSpatial Technologies, Inc. (GST), a leading developer of location-based technologies, announced today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded a patent for GST's dynamic notification technology.

Awarded on April 10, U.S. Patent 7,202,801, "A Method and Apparatus for Automated Location-based, Dynamic Notification System (ALDNS)", is built on an automated, location-based, dynamic notification system comprising a mobile unit hardware device and a control center computer facility with wireless communication capabilities.

"This technology is of tremendous significance for the industry of Location Based Services (LBS) using both GPS-enables phones and vehicle tracking systems that involve transmitting messages from one mobile device to either an LBS server or any other designated mobile devices," says John Lim, CEO of the Santa Ana, Calif.-based company. "GST is ready to bring the most advanced notification technology to a wide range of businesses and industries that may take advantage of an automated messaging system based on the current locations of people or mobile assets."

The technology supports numerous business applications related to both LBS and AVL as the patent offers the capability to issue notifications of arriving, approaching, leaving, entering, and any other types of location-related notifications, in an automatic, unattended manner.

A typical example of the possible business applications is in a dynamic routing situation where both route patterns and stop locations change frequently while the object is moving. The most important element of this technology is that it requires no human interaction from the person holding a GPS-enabled phone, the driver of a vehicle, or a dispatcher monitoring the operation.

Some likely applications of this technology include automatically issuing arrival notifications for bus transporting special-education students, buses transporting prisoners, delivery trucks, airport shuttle services, and others.
