Successful Implementation of GST Mapper in Fresno County, CA
Fresno County, California (June, 2008) —
Fresno County Fire Protection District successfully completed the implementation of GST Mapper mobile mapping system. The system offers the cutting-edge tracking and mapping technologies providing dispatchers, field commanders, fire chiefs, and even firefighters in vehicles with one common operating picture and real-time situational awareness. GST Mapper software installed at the Command Center shows the District's vehicles and current incidents. The mobile version of the software enables Mobile Data Computers (MDC) installed in fire engines and Battalion Chief vehicles with mapping, tracking, and advanced routing capabilities.
GST Mapper Server interfaces with the District's computer-aided dispatch system (CAD) to bring real-time incident information to the mobile mapping software. GST Mapper receives the CAD message of each call assigned to one or more vehicles, and sends the message to the designated vehicles. As soon as the message is received on the MDC, GST Mapper automatically displays the vehicle's current location and the location of the call, and provides an option to generate the fastest route to the incident with turn-by-turn directions. At any time, the user may route the vehicle to any address, or route the vehicle to any desired destination by choosing from the list of all the known locations. GST Mapper supports a comprehensive set of mobile AVL functionality. The software may show any one or more selected vehicles, the vehicles within a specific distance, or all the vehicles in the jurisdiction. Equipped with the County's latest GIS map and aerial photo, this system provides Fresno County Fire Protection District with the latest and most advanced tools to effectively respond to any critical situations.
