Aircraft Service Dispatch System Deployed at Philadelphia International Airport
Santa Ana, California (January, 2009) —
SMARTrack™, the state-of-the-art Aircraft Service Dispatch System developed by GST for DAL Global Services (DGS), the leader in airport service industry and a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines, is successfully deployed at Philadelphia International Airport to support daily operations of aircraft services for US Airways.
GST developed SMARTrack™ to support dispatch operations of Cabin, Water, and Lavatory services. The primary functionality of this system includes real-time display of demands throughout the airport, the arrival times and terminal/gate locations of aircrafts that need to be served, the anticipated and/or adjusted departure times, and qualified agents that are available to provide services. The Dispatcher workstation provides functions for dispatchers to identify status of current assignments and assign tasks to available agents.
This dispatch system employs the most advanced GIS, GPS, and wireless communication technologies developed by GST. A GIS-based map of the airport, showing detailed GPS-verified layout of terminals and gates, offers helpful visual assistance to dispatchers in task assignment. Each service agent holds a Motorola Symbol PDA handheld device that uses AT&T’s cellular network to receive and update task assignments. The position of the Symbol device obtained through the embedded GPS module is used to verify the gate location of the agent providing the assigned service.
