GST Optima and Sprint Go-Kit provide real-time situational awareness for Los Angeles Police Department at the Academy Awards
Santa Ana, California (February 2009) —
Lights! Camera! Action! Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) deployed the Sprint Go-Kit i355 iDen phones embedded with GST Optima at the Academy Awards. LAPD needed real-time information of where their officers are located before, during and after the Oscars. When an incident occurs, the Incident Commander will know which Team is closest to the incident and deploy that Team.
In order to have real-time GPS Tracking and multi-department interoperability where different departments have situational awareness of one group, two groups, or all groups, LAPD requested Sprint’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) for Go-Kit phones embedded with GST Optima.
GST Optima comes with real-time GPS tracking using Virtual Earth, generates detailed reports including geo-fence reporting and geo-fence notification. With GST Optima, multiple agencies are able to share real-time resource location data in One Common Operating Picture. The Command Post (CP), Dispatch, and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) can view locations of vehicles and personnel from participating departments on the same map using GST Optima.
GST Optima has also been deployed during this year’s Inauguration in Washington DC.
